Kroos says he had been called a Nazi on social media for Ozil criticism

Real Madrid’s midfielder Toni Kroos claims that he was branded a Nazi by some on social media after he criticised how Mesut Ozil announced his retirement from the German national team.

Ozil announced after the 2018 World Cup that he would not be available for international duty, claiming that he was the victim of racism due to his Turkish ancestry. Kroos said that Ozil deserved a “better departure” but felt that the way during which he retired was “not in order”. Kroos says many jumped to calling him a Nazi due to his looks.

He said in an Instagram Live chat with Germany president Frank-Walter Steinmeier: “After the 2018 World Cup I said that I didn’t just like the retirement of Mesut Ozil and therefore the manner during which he did it.

“And then i used to be directly a Nazi for tons of people: blond, blue eyes … everything fit tons of individuals . I managed to beat it, anyone can hide behind a fake profile then insult people empty to prevent them. Kroos insisted that Ozil was wrong to accuse the DFB and therefore the Germany team of harbouring racist attitudes. Basically Mesut may be a deserved international and as a player he deserved a far better departure. But the way he resigned wasn’t so as . The parts in his statement that are rightly addressed are unfortunately overshadowed by the significantly higher amount of nonsense.”

“I think he knows alright that racism within the national team and therefore the DFB doesn’t exist.”

Out of the Copa del Rey

Martin Odegaard gave his club a great reminder of his talents as Real Sociedad stunned Real Madrid with a 4 – 3 victory in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals.

The 21-year-old sensation opened the scoring in the first half at the Santiago Bernabeu, assisted by a goalkeeping mistake from Alphonse Areola. That was Odegaard’s sixth goal in the first season of a planned two-campaign loan in San Sebastian. If you’re looking for some fun, make sure to visit this online casino. Sociedad striker Alexander Isak later on took centre stage with two goals in as many second-half minutes.

Mikel Merino made it 4 – 1 after Marcelo scored one for Madrid, and Sociedad held out to serve Zinedine Zidane’s shuffled line-up a first defeat in 22 matches, despite goals from Rodrygo and Nacho and a red card for Andoni Gorosabel in a hectic finale.

Areola had a clumsy save to reward a great start from Sociedad, pushing Isak’s strike into Odegaard’s way before allowing the midfielder’s first-time follow-up to slide embarrassingly through his legs.

James Rodriguez’s sharp shot from the edge of the box drew a fine save from Alex Remiro low to his right, with the Real Sociedad goalkeeper denying Vinicius and Valverde in quick succession before Sergio Ramos planted a 39th-minute header against the crossbar which was ruled offside.

Isak’s unpredictable finishing had threatened to ruin Sociedad’s fine work during the first half and he had a 49th-minute effort disallowed when a VAR review showed he was offside on the end of Odegaard’s through ball.

But the Swedish forward superbly volleyed a chipped cross from Ander Barrenetxea – on as a half-time substitution for Adnan Januzaj – into the top left corner. Isak then recuperated of his earlier wastefulness by slamming an unstoppable shot high beyond Areola from Nacho’s bad clearance.

Unfortunately for the Sociedad, Remiro’s earlier consistency deserted him as Marcelo fired through his grasp at the near post, handing Galacticos a 59th-minute hope. More terrible defending sealed their fate, however, with Merino the unlikely and unmarked scorer when Isak became the provider.

Madrid almost dug themselves out of a hole with Vinicius cutting back for Rodrygo to score after having a header of his own disallowed for offside.

Nacho’s stoppage-time header and Gorosabel’s second yellow card, for a foul on Vinicius, meant Sociedad stumbled, but they’ve still managed to secure the win at the Bernabeu. In case you’re looking for some entertainment, spice up your day by visiting www.paripop.com/fr.

Valladolid’s Joaquin Fernandez was lucky to escape with just a booking after a 10th-minute foul on the youngster Rodrygo. Casemiro scored with Toni Kroos’ free-kick but the goal was ruled offside following a VAR check.

The hosts’ high press forced Los Blancos onto the back foot and Thibaut Courtois made an acrobatic one-handed save to keep Michel’s looping cros-shot from slipping under the crossbar. The Madrid goalkeeper was alert to another testing high ball 10 minutes before half-time when Raul Garcia’s swerving drive from distance whipped across the face of goal, the Belgium international parrying it away from danger.

Rodrygo drew a good save from Valladolid’s keeper early in the second half, and Benzema should have beaten him from close range when he collected Isco’s cross but he fired weakly into the goalie’s hands.

Galacticos remained calm and turned the game in the 78th minute when Kroos collected a poor clearance and floated a cross that Nacho met with a well-struck header into the far corner of Masip’s goal.
