Real Madrid suffered an unpleasant defeat in a small local derby away to Getafe. The team from the suburbs of Madrid celebrated with the result of 1-0 and secured their first victory against Los Blancos after 10 years.
At the very start we saw a goal. Enes Unal took advantage of Eder Militao’s bad reaction and put Getafe in the lead. At that time, everything was pointing to an exciting match, and many expected a great initiative from Real. In the following minutes, Los Blancos attacked with all their might, as two attempts by Luka Modric stood out. The Croatian footballer hit the crossbar in the 18th minute. Toni Kroos sent a dangerous shot two minutes later, but the ball went over the goal.
The scoreboard was on the 56th minute, as Sandi Ramirez could have extended the lead, but his powerful free kick went just over the bar. Karim Benzema could have equalized 20 minutes before the end, but he shot straight at the keeper in front of him from a great position. In the first minute of overtime, Modric made a great cross from a free kick, and a great header by Isco was even better defended by David Soria.
It remained 1-0, so Real Madrid recorded their second defeat of this season in La Liga, after the first one against Espanyol at the start of October.
